4 family-friendly MTB circuits

Publication date 25 May 2020,
MTB is an ideal alpine sport which respects the mountain environment.  It means you can enjoy nature and spectacular views and respect the silence, without polluting and its easy to transport.  What’s more…everyone knows how to ride a bike!

There is a wide choice of family-friendly circuits around the “Domaine”, through forests, around summer meadows and the Aravis Mountain Range.  Here is a selection of 4 circuits around the different massifs to discover the area.

Le Domaine added a new 13km circuit last summer, a round trip through the heart of the forest accessible for all, leaving from the Confins and passing by Saint Jean de Sixt and Le Grand Bornand. A great way to disconnect from the world in the heart of nature.

A great family adventure to enjoy together.  Admire the Aravis range, cross through summer meadows and descend through the woods to arrive in the village.  The trail begins from the Beauregard cable car with a descent down a rocky 4x4 track then becomes hilly all the way to the Col de la Croix Fry. Then on to an easy section through the forest joining with the tour de l’Andran loop.  Just before arriving at the Col de Merdassier, the track splits to join another narrower and faster track, the trail then comes to a gentle end back at the village.

The wide Bois de la Motte trail is ideal for beginners and starts from the Crêt du Merle chairlift.
Most of the trail goes downhill without any major points of difficulty (apart from some short passages over roots at the end of the track) to take you gently back to the village.

E-MTBs are ideal for exploring the mountains without any difficulty, but you still need to know where to go!  To get the most out of your day, straight from the village, head direction “le ranch” to reach the summit of the crêt du Merle, past the balcon du Voret.  On the way down, pass by the Confins Lake before going down to the village.  The more adventurous can take it further and go round the tour du Danay.
There are many circuits available depending on your level!  Check out our MTB map to find out about the circuits and our holiday advisors at the Tourist Office are available to give advice and answer any questions.
