An alpine adventure weekend

Publication date 9 July 2020,
Calling all adventure seekers, no need to cross the globe for adventure! This summer, you may not have had the chance to go far or even have holidays, but that doesn’t mean no adventure. Get out your to-do-list and add a WEEKEND IN LA CLUSAZ to it in bold!

It’s time to say stop to the incessant mosquito bites, the stifling heat in your apartment, traffic noise and all sorts of other annoying things. Experience an unforgettable night under the stars, alone with your tent or with friends in an outstanding setting. You will wake up refreshed after a night watching the sun go down and sleep at one with nature under the stars. A definite 4 star experience!

Climbing to the top of a named peak is a goal many search to achieve but we don’t all have the physical capacities to attain. This is where via ferrata comes in ! For novices, it’s a prepared course, with a fixed wire along the rock face that climbers can securely progress along. To put it simply, you have a harness, helmet and lanyard (with safety latches and shock absorbers) and you are attached to a metal cable, called a lifeline, the whole way along the climb. All you need to do is follow this line to get the top. A special kind of adventure that awakens the senses and heightens concentration in a sumptuous setting on the Col des Aravis!

Sometimes we get carried away in a dream that we are Kelly Slater surfing the waves in Hawaii…but then the kids (or the cat) suddenly jumping on the bed early Sunday morning to drag us up from the sweet dream and remind us that we are not a professional surfers nor in Hawaii! If it makes you feel any better, you can discover water sports not far from La Clusaz on the famous Lake Annecy. After a day in the mountains, there is nothing better than heading down to the turquoise water of the lake to enjoy a session of wake boarding or paddle board.

Like we said, you don’t need to cross the continents for adventure. Get out your cowboy boots and Stetson, we’re off to the Far West of La Clusaz. The tracks of the Aravis are not just for hiking or biking, horse back is another great way to enjoy the views. There are several formulas to choose from for all levels, from a gentle trek to explore the forest or longer rides to progress.
