When spring arrives, some wait patiently for summer and others, like us are already out in the sun despite the snow on the ground. To get the most out of the end of the season, we decided to give you the agenda for the next few weeks.
Here is a step by step guide of some of the best events in the valley to end the season in style. The fun starts on 15 April at 6 :30pm at the top of the village with :
The return of the Champions – StepAfter a packed season participating in downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle and freeriding competitions around France, Europe and the world, it is holiday time for the athletes from La Clusaz. Time to let it all go, and relax.
Our athletes from all categories and all disciplines, accompanied by their fan clubs will be present for a drink and to go back over their season, their performance and display their medals. A great, laid-back occasion to chill out and prepare for the next medal attempts, passing by a few bars on the way.
The Boarder Line – Step 2The Romans had the Galdiators, we have Cross-country Skiers ! On the 17th April, the Family Run track will become an arena where cross-country skiing enthusiasts will compete in a unique boardercross for an exciting day of events. There will be team starts, champions from all over France, a technical trail and all ending with a live concert.
The races are already full, however you can come and support the participants all along the course and enjoy a refreshment during the good-natured competition. Get a sneak peak of the event with the teaser video made by Team Farté, the organisers :
The Défi Foly – StepAnother unique experience, but this time on water. The reknowned Défi Foly is back after 2 years of absence, suffice to say that the skiers and public are raring to go ! !
The idea has remained the same since 1987 : to attempt to cross the Confins Lake on skis. Around 50 skiers participate on the world’s biggest water slide and attempt to beat the record on the longest distance travelled across the lake. They participate on skis, but also on UFOs, Non-identified floating objects.
The water in the lake is as fresh as the beer in the refreshments tent along the side of the Confins Lake, so join us for some crazy fun, on Sunday 24 April.
La Der des Ders – StepAs its name, the Last Derby, suggests, this is the event that marks the end of the season. On the first of May the season goes out with a bang with the final open day on Balme, filled with music and festivities.
By tradition, the bars on the slopes pay their round, constructing bars in the snow, serving charcuterie and all sorts of drinks. The day rounds off with a live concert and DJ set at the foot of the slopes.
