Lac de Lessy is an alpine lake situated at 1950m high in the village of Glieres Val de Borne (Petit-Bornand-les-Glieres), in the Aravis mountains (Haute-Savoie). Access is only by foot and not recommended in winter season
Average difficulty : medium to experienced hikers , with 800 m D+
It takes 2 hrs to walk to the ridge and 2 hrs of descent (including 30 mins for the walk up from the lake to the ridge).
It's a really pleasant place to be during the heat of summer days.
The Lac de Lessy, which is the end point of the walk, nestles in a ravine at the foot of the Jallouvre, the Buclon and the Aiguille Verte. If you choose the trails that starts at the Chinaillon, you must know that it's for experienced walkers. It takes a track that passes by the Aiguille Verte before plunging down into the Lac de Lessy. During the first part of the footpath, there are information panels about the nature of the terrain, the surrounding peaks, the region's fauna and flora. Fantastic views from the top of the ridge over the Aravis mountains, Lake Geneva and the Lac de Lessy.
This is a must see hike in our region.

Herding dogs are present in the vicinity of the lake from the beginning of July to the end of September, they must be approached with great caution and certain instructions must be respected (see video link for explanation). Dogs must be kept on a lead.

Free access.
